Join Us

The Hawaii Society of Mayflower Descendants would love you to join our group! If you are 18 years of age or older and are descended from a passenger on the Mayflower on its voyage to Plymouth, New England in December 1620, you are likely eligible for membership.

The first step is to complete a Mayflower Lineage Match at the following link: https://themayflowersociety.org/genealogy/mayflower-lineage-match.  The purpose of the Lineage Match service is to determine which portion of the Mayflower lineage has already been documented in a previously approved application, and which portion will need further documentation. After comparing the proposed lineage to the General Society’s database of previously approved lineages, the applicant will receive a detailed report on the findings, along with instructions on how to proceed with the membership process.

To complete the Lineage Match, new applicants and/or Supplemental applicants will pay a non-refundable fee of $75 that is submitted directly to The General Society of Mayflower Descendants (GSMD) for this service. After receiving the results of your Mayflower Lineage Match, you will work with a Hawaii Society Historian to complete your application. Use the Contact Us form (Contact us – The State Society of Mayflower Descendants in Hawaii (mayflowerhawaii.org) to let us know of your Lineage Match results and your interest in joining the Hawaii Society. The Historian will help you determine what documents you need to prove your lineage, help you prepare your final application for membership, and inform you regarding current GSMD and Hawaii Society dues (one year of current dues for each organization is required to apply).  Once completed, your application will be sent to The Mayflower Society in Plymouth, Massachusetts for verification and approval by their genealogy department.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” goes the Chinese proverb. Proving your lineage to a Mayflower passenger is such a journey. But be advised that this is not a short process and will likely take several months, but in the end will be well worth it!  In the meantime, we will add your name to our “Future Members” email list and keep you up to date with all the goings on of the Hawaii Society. We look forward to having you join us!
